Welcome to Yuzli. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use our mobile application and related services.

If you use the "nearby healthy stores" feature, we access your device location (only with your permission) to find relevant places near you. You can disable this at any time in your device settings.
We may collect basic device information (device type, OS version) and diagnostic or crash data to keep the app stable. Yuzli does not use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs.
Yuzli relies on a small set of third-party services to provide its core features. We only share the minimum data each service needs.
Data sent: the barcode you scan. Purpose: to retrieve product information (name, ingredients, nutrition) from the Open Food Facts collaborative database. No account or personal information is sent.
Data sent: non-personal food/nutrient queries. Purpose: to supplement nutrition reference data. No personal information is sent.
Data sent: the label photo you captured plus the text our on-device scanner already extracted from it. This is sent through our secure backend to OpenAI to structure the label into nutrition, ingredients, and additives. Purpose: accurate label parsing. OpenAI processes this under their API data usage policy and does not use it to train their models. Label photos are not shared with other users or sold.
Data sent: your approximate location when you open the nearby-stores feature. Purpose: to find healthy stores and markets near you.
We use Supabase for authentication, secure backend functions (including label reading), and any account data storage. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit.
When you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a basic identity token to create your account. We do not receive your provider password.
Initial text recognition on label photos runs on your device (Apple Vision on iOS, ML Kit on Android). That step happens locally and is not uploaded.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your data at any time.

Yuzli is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
